A frightening incident occurred early Monday morning in
Bengaluru when a 24-year-old college student narrowly escaped an attempted
assault. The young woman was traveling in a cab when two men forcibly entered
the vehicle in the Kammanahalli area between 2 and 3 am. She managed to avoid
the attack after local residents intervened, forcing the men to flee.
The victim, who resides in Kammanahalli and is an
undergraduate student at a private college, had booked a cab to pick up a
friend from Whitefield. When she entered the cab, two unidentified men
attempted to force themselves into the backseat. Alarmed, she immediately
protested, and the driver, who didn’t recognize the intruders, confronted them.
Fearing for her life, the woman quickly exited the cab and tried to return to
her house. However, one of the attackers pursued her, grabbed her by the neck,
and attempted to drag her away.
Fortunately, the commotion attracted the attention of nearby
residents who rushed to her aid, causing the attackers to flee. The woman later
filed a police complaint, and authorities are investigating the matter, working
to identify the suspects.
In a separate, tragic event, police in Bengaluru recently
apprehended a man for the alleged rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in the
Hoysala Nagar area.
