A new scam has surfaced in KR Puram, Bengaluru, where
a staged accident was caught on a vehicle's dashcam. In the footage, a
man is seen deliberately throwing himself onto the bonnet of a moving car,
attempting to fake an accident and claim injuries. However, the dashcam
footage exposed the scam in an instant, revealing the fraudulent act.
Such fake accidents are becoming an increasing
concern in the city, as scammers look to exploit drivers and extort money or
make false insurance claims.
Public Outrage and Reactions
The dashcam footage quickly went viral on social
media, sparking outrage. Many online users have expressed their concern,
calling for stronger measures to prevent such scams. Others pointed out that
this is part of a growing trend of fake accidents in different parts of Bengaluru,
with Whitefield and Kadugodi also witnessing similar incidents.
One user commented, "The frequency of these scams is
rising. Dashcams are essential now, especially while driving at night."
Another suggested that these incidents could be the work of an organized extortion
ring, urging authorities to investigate the matter seriously.
A Growing Issue Across the City
Several residents shared their own experiences, with
one recounting a disturbing encounter near Kadugodi Tree Park Metro Station.
The individual described a man stopping vehicles late at night, carrying a
stick, and creating a dangerous situation for motorists.
Citizens are calling on the Bengaluru City Police to
act swiftly, fearing that more innocent drivers could become targets of these
dangerous scams.
The Bengaluru City Police took to social media to
address the issue, responding to the viral post and requesting further details
from the victim in order to investigate the matter.
A Similar Incident in Whitefield
A few weeks ago, a similar incident occurred in Whitefield,
where a man was caught on dashcam footage deliberately lying in front of
a moving car to stage an accident. The footage went viral, highlighting the
importance of dashcams in defending against fraudulent claims and scams.
