In one of the deadliest terror incidents targeting civilians
in recent years, 26 innocent lives were lost and at least 20 others
were injured when armed terrorists opened fire near the Baisaran Valley
in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination often referred to as ‘Mini
Switzerland.’ The attack, which occurred around 3 PM on Tuesday, has drawn
widespread outrage and condemnation across the country, including a strong
response from several leading Bollywood personalities.
From seasoned actors like Akshay Kumar and Anupam
Kher to youth icons like Janhvi Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, the
film fraternity has united to denounce this inhumane act of terror.
Bollywood Reacts: Outrage and Grief
Actor Akshay Kumar, known for his patriotic roles and
vocal opinions on national issues, wrote on X, “Horrified to know of the terror
attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Sheer evil to kill innocent people like this.
Prayers for their families.”
Vicky Kaushal shared his sorrow on Instagram, saying,
“Can’t imagine the pain of the family members who lost their loved ones in the
absolutely inhumane act of terrorism in Pahalgam. My deepest condolences and
prayers.”
Janhvi Kapoor, deeply shaken by the incident, posted
a heartfelt note: “Shocked and heartbroken for the innocent lives lost...
soullessly conditioned monsters on a mission to carry out barbaric acts of
injustice... May God’s strength see you through this unimaginable pain.”
Sidharth Malhotra, currently shooting in Kerala,
strongly condemned the attack: “The terrorist attack in Pahalgam on innocent
civilians is a cowardly act. I have full faith in our armed forces and trust
they will ensure justice. Jai Hind!”
Sanjay Dutt, expressing his anger, posted, “They
killed our people in cold blood. This can’t be forgiven. We need to retaliate.
I urge our leadership to give them what they deserve.”
Industry Stands in Solidarity
Actress Hina Khan, who is presently in Kashmir, wrote
simply yet powerfully, “Pahalgam... Why... Why,” on her Instagram story,
capturing the shock many feel.
Filmmaker Karan Johar reposted a statement condemning
the attack and added, “This is heartbreaking... Prayers to the families and
loved ones of the innocent lives lost.”
Actor Sonu Sood called the attack unacceptable:
“Terrorism should not have any place in a civilized world. My deepest
condolences to the families... Om Sai Ram.”
Veteran actor Anupam Kher shared a video, expressing
both grief and fury. Recalling his experiences as a Kashmiri Hindu, he said,
“This massacre reminds me of the pain that has long haunted my community. The
Kashmir Files showed only a fraction of this reality, which many chose to
ignore as propaganda.”
Actress Raveena Tandon echoed the need for unity:
“Shocked and angry. No words to express the anguish. Time we all let go of
petty in-house fighting, UNITE and realise the true enemy.”
Southern Cinema Joins In
From the South Indian film industry, veteran actor Mohanlal
also voiced his sorrow: “My heart goes out to the victims... No cause can ever
justify the taking of innocent lives. Let us hold on to each other and never
let go of hope.”
Actor Kamal Haasan shared, “India stands united — in
grief, in resolve, and in our commitment to uphold law, order, and national
security.”
Farhan Akhtar, who recently hosted a screening in
Srinagar, wrote, “Deeply shocked and horrified by the brutal terrorist attack
in Pahalgam. This senseless act of violence against innocent lives is
absolutely inexcusable.”
What Happened in Pahalgam?
The terrorists are reported to have descended from the
surrounding hills and opened fire on a group of tourists, turning the
serene green meadows of Baisaran Valley into a site of horror. Most of
the victims were civilians and tourists, enjoying a peaceful afternoon in one
of Kashmir’s most scenic spots.
Following the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi
has cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia to return to India and assess
the situation. J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah described the attack
as “much larger than anything we’ve seen directed at civilians in recent
years.”
Nation Mourns, Demands Action
The country is in mourning, but the message from citizens
and celebrities alike is clear: this brutality cannot and will not be
tolerated.
The wave of celebrity responses reflects not just sorrow,
but a growing demand for accountability and justice. From grief-stricken
words to calls for retaliation and peace, the industry’s united front shows
that terrorism will never break the spirit of India’s people — or its
storytellers.
