What Happened in Pahalgam?

The terrorists are reported to have descended from the surrounding hills and opened fire on a group of tourists, turning the serene green meadows of Baisaran Valley into a site of horror. Most of the victims were civilians and tourists, enjoying a peaceful afternoon in one of Kashmir’s most scenic spots.

Following the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia to return to India and assess the situation. J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah described the attack as “much larger than anything we’ve seen directed at civilians in recent years.”
