Food delivery giant Zomato has announced a
significant change—its parent company, previously known as Zomato Limited,
will now be called Eternal Limited.
In a message to shareholders, CEO Deepinder Goyal revealed
that the company’s board has approved the rebranding. “Our corporate website
will shift to eternal.com, and our stock ticker will change from ZOMATO
to ETERNAL. The company will now oversee four key businesses—Zomato,
Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure,” he stated.
However, Goyal assured that the name Zomato will remain
unchanged for the food delivery service, ensuring that customers can
continue using the platform as before.
Social Media Reacts to the Change
The announcement took social media by storm, leaving many
users questioning the need for a rebrand.
One user humorously remarked, "Why change the name?
My mom likes Zomato. 'Eternal' is a bit hard to say."
Another joked, "Zomato sounded great! 'Eternal'
doesn't have the same ring to it. Guess I’ll start using Swiggy now!"
Comparisons were drawn to other major corporate rebrands
like Facebook (Meta) and Twitter (X).
"First Twitter became X, then Facebook turned into
Meta, and now Zomato is Eternal? Please, founders, stop complicating
things!" one user wrote.
Some speculated that this change signals a broader vision
for the company. "Maybe Zomato is planning to expand beyond food
delivery—perhaps into groceries or subscription services," another
suggested.
While Eternal Limited will be the official corporate
entity, Zomato’s brand will continue as usual. However, for many loyal
users, the name Eternal is still something they are adjusting to.
