Trump Ends Biden’s Access to Intelligence Briefings
U.S. President Donald Trump has officially revoked
Joe Biden’s security clearance, cutting off his access to classified
intelligence. This move comes as a direct response to Biden’s 2021 decision
to prevent Trump from receiving security briefings after leaving office.
Announcing the decision on Truth Social, Trump
declared, “Joe Biden no longer needs access to classified information.
Effective immediately, his security clearance is revoked, and daily
intelligence briefings will be discontinued.”
Citing Biden’s Own Precedent & Security Concerns
Trump justified his action by referring to Biden’s
past decision, stating, “Back in 2021, Biden ordered the Intelligence
Community (IC) to block me—the 45th President—from accessing security
briefings, breaking a long-standing tradition for former presidents.”
Additionally, Trump pointed to the Hur Report, which
raised concerns about Biden’s cognitive abilities and handling of
sensitive documents. “The report exposed Biden’s memory lapses and proved he
couldn’t be trusted with classified materials. I will always protect national
security—JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump added.
Biden’s 2021 Decision to Bar Trump from Briefings
When Biden took office in 2021, he justified revoking
Trump’s security clearance by citing concerns over Trump's actions
following his 2020 election loss and the January 6 Capitol riot.
At the time, Biden argued that Trump’s behavior was too unpredictable
for him to continue receiving intelligence briefings.
Trump’s Political Comeback & Future Implications
After a historic comeback, Trump defeated Democratic
candidate Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, reclaiming the White House.
His latest decision regarding Biden’s security clearance marks another
turning point in the ongoing political battle between the two leaders.
