Bollywood actor John Abraham has openly expressed his
support for Russia in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, citing
NATO's expansion as the root cause of the conflict.
John Abraham’s Stance on the War
During an interview with Aaj Tak, the actor stated:
“I’m a huge fan of Russia, I say this on record.”
He further explained his perspective:
“Of course, you don’t want war. Neither do I want people
of Ukraine to die, nor the people of Russia. But Russia has been screaming for
30 years asking NATO not to come. Nobody was listening. Finally, they did it.”
Abraham also praised India’s diplomatic stance,
saying that no one should dictate whether India can buy Russian oil or
not. He described External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar as the “poster
boy of Indian diplomacy.”
Russia-Ukraine Peace Talks
Meanwhile, diplomatic discussions between the US and
Russia continue in an effort to negotiate an end to the three-year-old war.
Despite US-brokered ceasefire talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin
has not yet agreed to a truce, insisting on conditions beyond what the US and
Ukraine had negotiated.
John Abraham on Minorities in India
In another interview with Times Now, Abraham
dismissed concerns about the safety of minorities in India.
“I'm a minority. My mother is a Zoroastrian, my father is
a Syrian Christian, and I have never felt more safe than in my country.”
John Abraham’s Latest Film: The Diplomat
The actor is currently promoting his latest action-thriller The
Diplomat, which is based on a real-life incident. Directed by Shivam
Nair, the film stars Sadia Khateeb alongside Abraham. It tells the
story of Indian national Uzma Ahmad, who was rescued from Pakistan in
2017 after being honey-trapped and forced into marriage at gunpoint.
