
Shimla: Light rainfall lashed several parts of Himachal
Pradesh on Saturday, while isolated areas of Lahaul and Spiti
received fresh snowfall, with Hansa recording 5 cm. The state
meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms
and lightning across all 12 districts on Sunday, with wind speeds of
30-40 kmph.
Additionally, an orange warning has been issued for Chamba,
Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla, forecasting heavy rain, hailstorms,
and lightning.
Tissa in Chamba was the wettest location, recording 19.3
mm of rain. Thunderstorms were reported in Shimla, Kalpa, Bhuntar,
Sundernagar, Kangra, Jot, and Palampur, while hail occurred in Sundernagar.
Due to recent consistent rains, the Lahaul and Spiti
police warned of a possible rise in water levels in rivers and
drains, urging locals to stay away from water bodies.
In temperature extremes, Keylong was the coldest at
night with 1°C, while Una recorded the highest daytime
temperature at 36.8°C.
The ongoing pre-monsoon season has recorded a 39%
rainfall deficit, with 96.4 mm of rain received so far against the
normal of 156.8 mm. The Met office has predicted a wet spell
across the state till April 22.
