
New Delhi: The death toll in the tragic building
collapse in Delhi’s Mustafabad area early Saturday has climbed to 11,
with the landlord, 60-year-old Tehsin, also among the deceased.
The incident occurred around 2:39 am, when a four-storey building
suddenly collapsed, trapping residents beneath the rubble.
According to Delhi Police, eight of the deceased
belonged to the same family, including three women and four
children. Rescue teams from NDRF, Delhi Fire Service, and police
worked for over 12 hours to rescue 22 trapped individuals.
So far, 11 others have sustained injuries — six
have been discharged, while five remain under treatment.
Divisional fire officer Rajendra Atwal confirmed that
emergency teams responded promptly after receiving a distress call around 2:50
am.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her
condolences and assured that a thorough investigation has been launched.
“May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to their
families,” she said.
The cause of the collapse is under investigation, with
rescue and relief operations still ongoing.
