Sonu Nigam Scolds Kolkata Audience for Standing, Says ‘Go Contest Elections Instead’

Sonu Nigam captivated fans with his live concert in Kolkata on February 10. However, the singer grew frustrated when some audience members remained standing, disrupting the event. Taking control of the situation, he firmly instructed them to sit down, even suggesting that if they wished to stand, they should do so in an election.

In a widely shared video from the event, Sonu can be heard saying, “Agar tumko khada hona hi hai, election mein khade ho jao yaar! Please bithao. Jaldi karo… itna time jaa raha hai mera maalum hai? Apka cut-off time aa jayega phir, baithao! Jaldi baitho! Baitho! Bahar niklo! Make this space empty.” (If you really want to stand, go contest elections! Please sit down. My time is getting wasted. Sit fast or leave!).

Fan Reactions

Many fans supported Sonu’s stance, criticizing the event’s poor management. One user commented, “The mismanagement was so bad that Sonu Sir had to step in himself. Absolutely shameful.” Another wrote, “He had to handle security himself because of the lack of proper arrangements.”

Some fans also drew comparisons to the tragic incident involving singer KK, who passed away after a poorly managed concert in 2022. A user remarked, “Sonu knows what happened to KK due to bad security. Every artist needs to take precautions now.”

Sonu’s Recent Health Scare

Recently, Sonu suffered a severe back spasm during a performance. He described the pain as “excruciating,” saying, “It felt like a needle was piercing my spine. Even the slightest movement was unbearable.” He shared his experience in a video on Instagram, assuring fans that he was recovering.
