A day after the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam that
claimed the lives of 26 civilians, Indian security forces neutralized two
terrorists in a swift operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla
district, foiling an infiltration attempt.
The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army confirmed the
development in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“Heavy exchange of fire between security forces and
terrorists, two terrorists have been eliminated. Infiltration bid foiled by the
security forces in the ongoing Operation in Baramulla.”
According to officials, a large cache of weapons,
ammunition, and other war-like stores were recovered from the slain
terrorists, indicating they were heavily armed and possibly planning a major
strike.
The operation is still ongoing, with security forces
maintaining a tight cordon in the area to ensure no additional threats remain.
Heightened Vigilance Post-Pahalgam Attack
This encounter comes less than 24 hours after the brutal
terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where terrorists opened fire on tourists in
Baisaran Valley, killing 26 and injuring at least 20 others. The back-to-back
incidents have led to increased security across Jammu and Kashmir.
Intelligence inputs suggest heightened terrorist activity
along the Line of Control (LoC), prompting forces to remain on high
alert in sensitive regions such as Baramulla and Kupwara.
The successful operation in Baramulla is being viewed as a strong
and immediate response to the Pahalgam attack, showcasing the Indian
Army’s commitment to neutralizing threats swiftly and ensuring civilian
safety.
Further updates on the ongoing operation are awaited.
