Actor-turned-politician Vijay was left stunned during
a political rally on Saturday when an enthusiastic fan dramatically jumped
from a tree onto his vehicle to meet him. Vijay was campaigning for his
newly launched party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in Coimbatore when
the surprising incident took place.
Fan’s Stunt Leaves Vijay Shocked
A viral video captured by Sun News shows Vijay warmly
greeting a massive crowd from atop his campaign vehicle. However, the
celebratory mood shifted briefly when he heard a sudden commotion behind him.
Turning around, Vijay witnessed a fan leaping down from a nearby tree
directly onto his vehicle. For a few seconds, the actor appeared visibly
shocked, unsure how to react.
Displaying his trademark calmness, Vijay quickly helped the fan to his feet and
gifted him a party scarf, much to the delight of onlookers. Encouraged by this,
another fan also attempted to climb onto the vehicle, forcing Vijay’s security
team to step in and control the swelling excitement.
Internet Divided Over Fan Behavior
The incident quickly went viral online, sparking a mix of
humor, concern, and criticism from netizens.
One X (formerly Twitter) user commented, “What kind of nonsense is this?
Falling from a tree to a caravan van to watch an actor turned politician. Do
Vijay's fans have brains? I hate this kind of stupidity.”
Another user speculated whether the stunt was pre-planned, asking, “It is
planned it seems?”
Many others simply laughed it off, with one popular post joking that the fan
was recreating a famous scene from Vijay’s movie Pokiri. “Bro
recreated this scene in real life,” the user wrote, alongside a clip from the
film where Vijay performs a daring jump.
Some fans defended the incident as a show of "pure love
and excitement" for their idol, while others called for stricter crowd
control at political events to ensure everyone’s safety, including Vijay
himself.
Vijay’s Political and Film Journey
Vijay, one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, made his
acting debut as a child artist in 1984’s Vetri, and later took up
leading roles starting with Naalaiya Theerpu in 1992.
His latest film, The Greatest of All Time, directed by Venkat Prabhu,
hit theatres earlier this year. His final film before focusing full-time on
politics will be Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, where he
shares screen space with Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha
Baiju.
With the formation of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, Vijay
has set his sights on the 2026 Tamil Nadu state elections, aiming to
translate his massive fan following into political success.
However, incidents like Saturday’s dramatic tree jump underline the challenges
he may face in balancing celebrity enthusiasm with the discipline
required in political campaigning.
For now, Vijay remains a magnetic figure whose
presence—whether in films or politics—continues to inspire extreme passion
among his followers.
