
Poonam Gupta Appointed as RBI Deputy Governor Ahead of MPC Meeting
The Government of India has appointed Poonam Gupta, Director General of the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), as the new Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). She will serve a three-year term, succeeding Michael Patra, who retired in January 2025.
Her appointment comes just before the crucial Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, scheduled for April 7-9, 2025.
